What causes cellulite?

Aging, hormones, genetics and dramatic weight changes can all play a role in the appearance of cellulite. These factors can cause connective tissue bands under the skin to stiffen and the fat cells they surround to become enlarged and push up into the skin. This creates the undesirable “cottage cheese” effect.

It is difficult for patients to reduce  cellulite, regardless of healthful eating and regular exercise. Cellulaze target the structural problem that causes cellulite—by treating the fibrous bands beneath the skin—while also thickening and adding elasticity to the skin.

How does Cellulaze work?

In the Cellulaze procedure, which is performed under a local anesthetic, Dr. Kang inserts a small cannula, or narrow tube the size of the tip of a pen, underneath the skin. The SideLight 3D side-firing technology directs controlled, laser thermal energy to the treatment zones (typically the buttocks and thighs).

The laser is designed to diminish the lumpy pockets of fat, smooth the areas of the skin depression and increase the elasticity and thickness of the skin. Bay Area patients will only need to receive one Cellulaze treatment to see significant results.

What Can I Expect During Cellulaze Treatment?

During your appointment, Dr. Kang marks the areas of treatment before making incisions and beginning the Cellulaze treatment.

What can I expect after my treatment?

After the Cellulaze treatment, you may experience some bruising and discomfort, Dr. Kang may ask you to wear a compression garment to minimize swelling. You will be able to return to normal activities after a day or two and resume more strenuous exercise after one to two weeks. Your results will continue to improve for the next three to 12 months.

What kind of results can I expect?

• Treated dimples to release fibrous bands that pull down on the skin
